Stainless Steel End Contact for the Medical Industry

Volkert's active quality and inspection system and years of experience delivered well-formed stainless steel end contacts meeting medical product standards. Additional details of the project are listed below. Contact us to learn about our other capabilities.

Specializing in diverse metal-forming, we provided a solution for a medical industry customer seeking stainless steel end contacts. The end contacts units are part of a blood recirculation pump used in knee operations.

The end contact part shown here was stamped from 0.014” thick stainless steel and required tolerances to within ± 0.001”. We used AISI 301 full hard stainless steel which offers excellent resistance to corrosion and heat. The finished part measures 3.0” long x 1.0” wide. Our Multi-Slide machine utilizes a small progressive die and then a set of form tools to economically form the close tolerance parts. The complex forming stamping process features a heat seal packaging final step. Based on the customer's request for 300,000 units per year, we implemented production planning for a rapid 24-hour turnaround time.
