Full Time | Tool and Die Apprentice

We turn coils of thin to medium gauge metals into precise intricate stamped components for the electronics, military, medical, aerospace, automotive industries.

We are looking for individuals with mechanical aptitude to work in our New York State registered apprenticeship program alongside other experienced tool and die makers on progressive, Multi-Slide (Fourslide) and transfer (eyelet) press operations towards becoming a full Tool and Die Maker.

Job Responsibilities:

• Constructs, alters, and repairs a wide variety of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to very close tolerance

• Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder, to machine parts

• Studies specifications, engineering blueprints, tool orders

• Draws preliminary sketches, prepares layout and detail drawings

• Develops strategies for fabricating designed dies using most suitable to machining resources

• Meets all quality and efficiency expectations

• Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

• Education high school/vocational school

• Ability to read/write English

• Interpret engineering specifications, including operative sheets, drawings, and sketches

• Mathematical aptitude: demonstrated ability for using shop mathematics including geometric and trigonometric formulas

• Work with close dimensional tolerances and use all types of precision measuring instruments

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

• Able to work independently
